Fire at IIT Kharagpur Rail Workshop 14th December, 2021: The work of making state-of-the-art train coaches was going on in the caratshop of the railway workshop in Kharagpur on Tuesday morning. While working in the bathroom, a fire broke out. Black smoke begins to billow. An engine in the first workshop tried to control the fire. Later the news was given to the fire brigade. Two more engines arrive at the scene. The Lelihan flame came under control after several attempts at three engines.
It is learned that the coach under construction was completely burnt due to the fire. As a result, the railways have lost a lot of money. But how is this fire? The reason is still unclear. However, it is initially thought that the fire somehow caught fire while welding work in the bathroom. Although many workers were present at the workshop during the fire, no casualties were reported. It is to be noted that a private company is currently working on making coaches in the workshop. Naturally, questions have been raised about their role in this incident.
খড়গপুরে (Kharagpur) রেলওয়ের ওয়ার্কশপে নির্মীয়মাণ কোচে বিধ্বংসী অগ্নিকাণ্ড। পুড়ে ছাই গোটা কোচ। রেলের প্রচুর ক্ষতি হয়েছে বলেই মনে করা হচ্ছে।
মঙ্গলবার সকালে খড়গপুরে রেলের ওয়ার্কশপের ক্যারেটশপে চলছিল ট্রেনের অত্যাধুনিক কোচ তৈরির কাজ। বাথরুমের কাজ করার সময় আচমকা আগুন ধরে যায়। কালো ধোঁয়া ছড়াতে শুরু করে। প্রথম ওয়ার্কশপে থাকা একটি ইঞ্জিন আগুন আয়ত্তে আনার চেষ্টা করে। পরে খবর দেওয়া হয় দমকলে। ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছয় আরও ২ টি ইঞ্জিন। তিনটি ইঞ্জিনের বেশ কিছুক্ষণের চেষ্টায় আয়ত্তে আসে লেলিহান শিখা।
জানা গিয়েছে, অগ্নিকাণ্ডের জেরে নির্মীয়মাণ কোচটি সম্পূর্ণ ভস্মীভূত হয়ে গিয়েছে। ফলে প্রচুর টাকার ক্ষতি হয়েছে রেলের। কিন্তু কীভাবে এই অগ্নিকাণ্ড? কারণ নিয়ে এখনও ধোঁয়াশা জারি। তবে প্রাথমিকভাবে মনে করা হচ্ছে বাথরুমে ওয়েল্ডিংয়ের কাজ করার সময় কোনওভাবে আগুন ধরে যায়। অগ্নিকাণ্ডের সময় ওয়ার্কশপে বহু কর্মী উপস্থিত থাকলেও হতাহতের কোনও খবর নেই। উল্লেখ্য, বর্তমানে ওয়ার্কশপে কোচ তৈরির কাজ করছে বেসরকারি সংস্থা। এই ঘটনায় স্বাভাবিকভাবেই তাঁদের ভূমিকা নিয়ে প্রশ্ন উঠতে শুরু করেছে।
