Cyclone Gulab present status in southern Odisha & Andhra Pradesh
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the coastal areas of southern Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. At present, the cyclonic storm is located 180 km southeast of Gopalpur. It is believed that it may hit the coastal areas from tonight to midnight.
Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena said that the cyclonic storm Gulab is at a distance of about 180 km from Gopalpur. He has expressed the possibility that there may be landfall in some areas by late evening or midnight.
Gulab Cyclone into the date in west Bengal?
He said that it could be a landfall between Gopalpura and Kalingapatam in Andhra Pradesh. Due to this, there may be heavy rain in the coastal areas. Earlier, yesterday, the IMD had informed that there is a deep depression over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, which has moved westwards and intensified into Cyclone Gulab.
According to the National Disaster Response Force, 13 teams (24 sub-teams) have been deployed in Odisha and five in Andhra Pradesh. Along with this, there are plans to shift about 86 thousand families from low-lying areas of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam districts of Andhra Pradesh to relief camps.
